In order to optimise the returns on the considerable investment to be made in it's owned Jatropha plantations, for two years Viridas established a small plantation where it carried out seed planting and growing trials. This valuable intellectual property will be fully exploited in the next development phase.
Jatropha has never before been grown on an industrial scale and in an organised, structured manner to produce Bio-Mass for the power generating industry and Bio-Oil for the manufacture of Bio-Diesel. Viridas has a programme of ongoing evaluation to ensure the optimal development of the crop as a sustainable feedstock including improved planting, oil extraction and transportation.
