There is little experience in the extraction of Jatropha oil. Viridas are currently evaluating both mechanical and solvent based techniques.
Our intention is to optimise the size of our Jatropha groves so as to fully use a grove based extraction plant without incurring extra costs for the transportation of seeds.
A valuable byproduct of the extraction process is the seed cake. Viridas intends to use the seed cake for self fertilisation which will greatly improve the carbon footprint of our CJO.
